Astrophotography Contest

Overview

The World Space Week 2026 Astrophotography Challenge invites astrophotographers across Pakistan to capture and share their best astronomical images. Whether you are photographing the Moon from your backyard or capturing distant objects deep in space, this is your opportunity to showcase the beauty of the universe through your lens.

Participants can submit their best photograph in one of two categories:

  • Category 1: Lunar Astrophotography - Capture the Moon in all its detail - its craters, mountains, phases, eclipses, or other lunar features.
  • Category 2: Deep Space Astrophotography - Capture objects beyond our Solar System, such as nebulae, galaxies, star clusters, or other deep-sky objects.

Rules & Guidelines

  • The contest is open to astrophotographers across Pakistan.
  • Each participant may submit only one entry in one category.
  • The submitted photograph must be the original work of the participant.
  • Images must be submitted in PDF Format.
  • Participants must provide the following technical information with their entry:
    • Telescope and mount specifications
    • Camera specifications (CCD, CMOS, DSLR, etc.)
    • Geographic location of observation
    • Exposure and tracking time (Year, Month and Date)
    • Astronomical filters used (e.g., BVRI, LRGB, etc.)
    • Processing software used, if applicable
  • Basic image processing such as cropping, stacking, colour correction, noise reduction, and contrast adjustment is permitted. The final image should accurately represent the captured astronomical object.
  • Images that are substantially generated or altered using AI image-generation tools will not be considered.
  • Participants must ensure that all submitted images are suitable for public display and publication.
  • Entries must be submitted by 20 October 2026.
  • The decision of the judging committee will be final.
